“If You Really Knew Me”

My English teacher comes up with the craziest assignments. This time, it was an assignment to her and only her. No reading it to the class so we could critique each other. She wanted us to write “If You Really Knew Me” and then list things. Secrets, things that aren’t obvious then once she reads them, she would take off all the names and pass them around the class. We had to guess who was who…Nobody guessed mine. I mean I’m sure there are people who denied their list belonged to them but I wasn’t going to. Nobody guessed me. Here is my list…

If you really knew me…

1.       You would know I’m from the ghetto of California

2.       I was taken from my mom when I was 1 and she got me back

3.       Both of my parents were addicted to drugs

4.       My paternal grandparents practically raised me

5.       I am a “victim” of abuse, from others and myself

6.       When I down myself to others, it’s only so I can be told I’m wrong. Even though I never listen.

7.       I don’t want to be that fat chick he’s dating. I want to hear “damn did you see his gf?”

8.       My grandmother is my biggest critic but she makes a better person

9.       I wear a size 11 ring, and it’s embarrassing.

10.   My son is #1 in my heart but “he” comes pretty damn close

11.   I hate cleaning and school with a passion. But it has to be done

12.   I wish I never quit softball, I know I would be thinner

13.   I would change almost every decision I have ever made if I were ever given the chance
